Water utilities can learn much from other utilities that have similar situations. Information on case studies of water utilities dealing with agricultural wastes in their source water are provided below to represent a variety of utility approaches and CAFO types. The examples are provided to encourage water utilities to consider alternative approaches for their particular situation. Three sections of case studies are provided:

• A series of summaries of case studies for agricultural watersheds with AFOs and CAFOs that are described on USEPA websites
• Experiences of US water utilities that participated in an informational survey conducted in 2005
• Select in-depth case studies analyzed as part of this research project
